The diapers are very easy to use, and most importantly, they eliminate the need to clean the house or car interior due to stains and discharge. When using diapers, you don’t have to worry that your pet will relieve itself in some corner without, for example, reaching the diaper or tray. Another advantage can be noted that colored diapers with patterns are now being produced that look simply touching. The only thing that really upsets me is the price per package. It is very high even for diapers of the most popular brands. But even in this case, there is an excellent solution: reusable diapers, which will be very useful if your pet needs to wear this hygiene product constantly. I also know that some pet owners sew or make their own diapers from baby products. This way you can choose the color of the future product yourself and save a lot if necessary.

In what situations are pet diapers used?

Unfortunately, our pets also get sick and sometimes they are not able, for quite objective reasons, to visit their litter box on their own to satisfy their natural needs.

There are situations when an animal cannot get to the toilet on its own because it is sick.

The use of cat diapers is justified in the following situations:

1. For seriously ill bedridden animals, when spontaneous excretion of feces and urine occurs.
2. With frequent urge to urinate during exacerbation of urolithiasis. At the same time, the amount of urine per serving is extremely meager. The use of diapers allows for visual control of bowel movements (mucus, blood clots, etc.).
3. If there are wounds or skin problems (dermatitis, etc.) in the groin area. Antiseptic drugs and healing ointments used for treatment will be hidden under the diaper; traces of medications will not remain on the sofa, carpets and other furniture.
4. After surgical procedures, for example, after urethrostomy, as well as sterilization or castration. In the postoperative period, constant wearing of diapers is required to maintain cleanliness in the surgical area and prevent the animal from licking itself.
5. During long-term transportation of the pet or on a long trip, when it is not possible to use the cat litter.
6. To prevent unwanted mating if animals of different sexes live in the house.
7. A diaper is put on a cat during heat to avoid the appearance of traces of a specific secretion on furnishings (especially light-colored upholstered furniture).
8. For cats who are too active in marking their territory.
9. For older cats and cats that cannot reach the potty.

You should not put diapers on cats during litter training, as this significantly reduces the chances of success of the entire educational process.

From personal experience. At one time our cat suffered from urolithiasis. He was very responsible and always wanted to get into his potty to pee. Sometimes he walked slowly and staggered, and sometimes he simply crawled towards his litter box. Eventually they made him a bed not far from the toilet.
