Stride Plus is a vitamin complex related to chondroprotectors. Thanks to a carefully selected composition, it is effectively used for the treatment and prevention of degenerative diseases of cartilage tissue in animals, as well as pathologies caused by the inflammatory process. According to the instructions, Stride Plus can be used for adult dogs and puppies.
Composition and release form
A special feature of the vitamin complex is that it consists of components that have a positive effect on the functioning of joints, prevent their wear and tear, trigger regeneration processes and supply the necessary minerals for the restoration of cartilage and connective tissue. The components of the vitamin complex are:
- hyaluronic acid;
- chondroitin sulfate;
- manganese;
- glucosamine hydrochloride;
- methylsulfanylmethane (MSM).
The filler acts as an excipient. The manufacturer does not specify in the instructions what is used as a filler.
The vitamin complex is produced in the form of syrup. The caramel-colored thick liquid tastes quite sweet. It does not have an unpleasant or pungent odor, so dogs eat the syrup well. Packaged in polymer bottles with a screw cap, the volume of which can be 200 or 500 ml. The bottle comes with not only instructions for use, but also a special dispenser that screws on instead of a cap. Its presence greatly simplifies measuring the required dose.
How does the drug work?
Stride Plus not only relieves pain, but also regenerates cartilage tissue. Stride Plus relieves inflammation and relieves the dog of the pain from which it suffers by regenerating cartilage tissue. Despite this, each component of the drug performs a specific function, which differs from all others:
- Hyaluronic acid gives the dog's cartilage visco-elastic properties and, as a result, the sensation of pain goes away, the level of inflammation decreases and it becomes much easier for him to move than it was before.
- Chondroitin sulfate improves the level of shock-absorbing abilities of the cartilage surface of the joints, as well as the joint capsule.
- Glucosamine performs the function of reducing inflammation of the emerging disease.
- The work of manganese is aimed at ensuring that chondroitin sulfate is well absorbed in the treatment of joints.
Sometimes doctors recommend using vitamins. This is especially true for those puppies who have ear pain when they begin to grow very quickly. Vitamins will also be useful for those dogs that have signs of metabolic disorders. Vitamins will be useful for the following breeds: dachshund, shepherd, St. Bernard and Labrador retriever.
Pharmacological properties
It is common for dogs to develop degenerative joint diseases as they age. Pets of large breeds and those with a genetic predisposition (for example, Labradors, Shepherds, St. Bernards) are especially susceptible to this danger. This phenomenon is mainly caused by the activity of animals, although other factors can also provoke joint pathologies:
- unsuitable climatic conditions;
- physical inactivity;
- colds;
- metabolic disorders;
- lack of vitamins and minerals in the diet;
- autoimmune diseases, etc.
Stride Plus is effectively used both for the prevention and treatment of joint problems, since its components have a positive effect on cartilage, connective and bone tissues:
- Hyaluronic acid is the main component of synovial fluid. Gives cartilage tissue more elasticity, as a result of which it can withstand greater loads. Eliminates inflammation and has an analgesic effect.
- Chondroitin sulfate increases the shock-absorbing properties of cartilage. It starts the processes of regeneration of the articular capsule of cartilage located on the surface of the joints. Has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Chondroitin acts as a “building material” for bone tissue.
- Glucosamine helps increase the level of GAGs in joint tissues. These substances are involved in the process of cartilage tissue regeneration. Glucosamine also has an anti-inflammatory effect and promotes the production of hyaluronate, which is the main component of synovial fluid.
- MSM is a source of sulfur, which is involved in the formation of connective tissue. Acts as the main component in collagen synthesis.
- Manganese improves the absorption of chondroitin by the body, and also participates in lipid metabolism, osteogenesis, and promotes the growth of bone and cartilage tissue.
Operating principle
The active components of this product stop the destruction of articular cartilage. Chondroitin in combination with glucosamine improves joint mobility, restores the layer between them and increases the amount of synovial fluid. Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate cartilage, which becomes more elastic. The same substance eliminates swelling and has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the immune system.
With arthrosis, cartilage tissue is destroyed and pain appears.
In addition, the drug stimulates the production of collagen necessary for tissue repair. The complex of amino acids accelerates the regeneration processes of destroyed cartilage, improves the general condition of the body and affects metabolic processes.
Cats with joint diseases lose activity and become lethargic. A pet with arthritis may have decreased appetite. In advanced cases, swelling occurs in the area of the problem joint. Unlike humans, symptoms in cats are not as pronounced. It is quite difficult to notice redness and swelling in an animal due to its fur. However, if you lightly press on the problematic joint, the pet will react quite violently. In addition, the animal may periodically raise the sore leg.
Indications for use
The drug contains components necessary for the rapid restoration of connective and cartilage tissue. In addition, they have an analgesic effect and relieve inflammation; therefore, Stride Plus is used for dogs in the treatment of such pathologies of the musculoskeletal system:
- for arthritis;
- for osteoarthritis;
- with hydrarthosis;
- with osteochondrosis;
- with arthrosis;
- for sprains, bruises and other injuries;
- with ankylosis;
- for dysplasia;
- for rheumatism;
- with periarticular fibrositis.
Use a vitamin complex for animals of any age. It is also prescribed to prevent these pathologies, especially if there is a high predisposition to their occurrence (genetic predisposition or heavy workload). A chondroprotector is also recommended for strengthening ear cartilage in puppies.
If lameness is detected, the animal refuses to walk, or decreases in activity, you should immediately consult a doctor. Timely treatment will allow you to recover quickly. Old dogs require special attention.
Indications and contraindications
Stride for dogs is prescribed for the treatment of pathologies of joints and connective tissues of any etiology:
- arthritis;
- osteoarthritis;
- arthrosis;
- ankylosis;
- coxarthrosis;
- hydrarthrosis;
- osteochondrosis;
- hip dysplasia in dogs;
- periarticular fibrositis.
The chondroprotector is prescribed to dogs when they receive injuries to ligaments and joints, as well as after operations performed on the musculoskeletal system.
In dogs over 8 years of age, the use of Stride Plus is indicated for the prevention of the above pathologies. The drug is also recommended for use in animals undergoing regular physical activity.
The chondroprotector is contraindicated in dogs with hypersensitivity to medicinal components.
Instructions for use
The use of the drug depends on the purpose - treatment or prevention. Regardless of breed, age and weight, Stride plus syrup for dogs
mixed with food. Animals consume it without problems.
Treatment
If the vitamin complex is used for medicinal purposes, the recommended doses should be followed:
- For puppies and small dogs whose weight does not exceed 5 kg, 2 ml of syrup is enough.
- For pets weighing from 5 to 15 kg, 4 ml of the drug will be required.
- If the animal's weight is between 15 and 30 kg, 8 ml of medication is needed.
- For large dogs weighing over 30 kg, you need to take 12 ml of vitamin syrup.
You must take the drug for at least 30 days. Further, depending on the results of treatment, Stride plus is consumed in the same doses or reduced by half.
To measure the amount of syrup you need, you need to press the pump, taking into account the fact that 1 ml of the drug is squeezed out per press. The bottle must be shaken before use.
There are no special instructions regarding the use of Stride Plus with other drugs in the instructions for use.
Prevention
If a vitamin complex is used to prevent joint diseases, the following doses should be adhered to:
- For small breed dogs, 1 ml of syrup will be required if their weight does not exceed 5 kg.
- For larger pets (weighing 5-15 kg), 2 ml of the drug should be given.
- For animals whose weight ranges from 15 to 30 kg, you need 4 ml of the vitamin complex.
- For pets whose weight is over 30 kg, 6 ml of medicine is needed.
For preventive purposes, it is recommended to use Stride Plus for dogs from 5 years of age. For animals prone to joint problems, prevention should begin at 3 years of age. The following breeds are at risk:
- shepherd dogs;
- retrievers;
- Saint Bernards;
- Labradors.
The duration of medication should be determined by the doctor after an examination.
Side effects
Complications during drug treatment develop extremely rarely.
In case of an overdose, the animal may experience adverse reactions in the form of lacrimation, lack of appetite, vomiting, and dry mucous membranes of the oral cavity. In severe cases, suffocation is observed, caused by swelling of the throat. Usually, to eliminate negative reactions, it is enough to stop taking the drug. When such complications develop, a veterinarian's examination and symptomatic therapy are required.
Sometimes animals experience itching, drowsiness, apathy, weakness and complete loss of appetite. Typically, such symptoms appear in case of long-term use of large dosages of the drug. If the drug is not discontinued and the animal is not shown to a veterinarian, metabolic processes in the body are disrupted, the pet’s condition worsens, and exhaustion is observed.
Contraindications and side effects
The complex includes minerals and substances that are present in the body. For this reason, it is considered safe and has no contraindications. Can be used for pets of different ages and health conditions. It should not be used only in case of individual intolerance to the components, but this is extremely rare.
When using syrup for an animal with hypersensitivity for the first time, you should observe the body's reaction. If an allergy occurs, you should stop using the drug.
No side effects were identified.
Contraindications
Despite the high-quality and useful composition, the drug has contraindications:
- intolerance to animals of any of the components of the pharmacological agent;
- violation of the rules for storing funds;
- ulcerative lesions of the stomach and intestines;
- the period of gestation in dogs;
- pet's weight is less than 1 kg;
- a serious condition of an animal when it refuses food and water.
It is prohibited to give the drug without a veterinarian's prescription and a preliminary diagnostic examination. This can lead to serious complications.
Owner reviews
Timur, owner of St. Bernard:
“My dog has undergone three surgeries and was diagnosed with dysplasia. I took Stride Plus for a long time, so I can evaluate its effectiveness. At first I was very afraid to give it to my dog, because I read on the Internet that it “harms” the liver. In this regard, I visited several veterinary clinics to consult with specialists. All doctors said that Stride Plus contains no components dangerous to animals. The drug helped us (the dog became much better). I didn’t find any side effects or negative consequences.”
Veronica, Rottweiler owner:
“When I adopted a Rottweiler puppy from the shelter, I was very happy, but after 1.5 months I noticed that my favorite began to run like a rabbit.” Let me clarify that the dog was trained intensively. We didn’t stop training, but on the advice of a veterinarian we knew, we started taking Stride Plus. The dog's condition has improved significantly. At 1.5 years old we were diagnosed with dysplasia. Now we regularly take a vitamin complex, and the animal feels good, but we need to drink it for life. I recommend it to all animals with problem joints.”
Reviews of the drug Stride plus
Anna, St. Petersburg. Hello! I would like to leave my review about the drug for joint pain for dogs, Stride Plus. I recently purchased a Rottweiler puppy from a friend of mine who was only a couple of months old. Every day he could not sit in one place and constantly ran in different directions, but then I began to notice some lethargy in him, as if he had no strength, although our family fed him well. After visiting the doctor, it turned out that his ears hurt. Then, when I bought Stride Plus, not even five weeks had passed before it became like before again! Thank you everyone for such a wonderful drug.
Veronica, Moscow. Hi all! I am very grateful to those who came up with such a good way to treat joint diseases for dogs. If it weren’t for him, my dog Ricci would continue to suffer from this. It’s good that I identified the problem in time and helped him recover.
