Teeth brushing procedure
When your pet already calmly reacts to attempts to climb into its mouth and to objects for hygiene procedures, you can begin a full cleaning. Before cleaning, you need to prepare: get all the necessary tools, and feed the cat in advance - it should not be hungry.
The procedure should proceed as follows:
- Taking the cat in your arms and fixing it, you need to carefully lift the upper lips and brush several times along the fangs and incisors from top to bottom (from the root).
Movements during brushing should be fast, and the brush must be carried out first from the root, and then along the dentition
- The second step is to move along the front teeth along the row.
- Next, you need to open your mouth slightly and brush along the side teeth using the same algorithm - first from top to bottom, then along. It is important to carefully treat both the external and internal surfaces of the dentition. Movements should be fast and confident, with moderate pressure.
- You can finish the procedure by wiping your teeth with clean gauze or a cotton pad soaked in warm water.
To brush your cat’s teeth, you need to grab him firmly and only then start the procedure with a brush.
The total duration of the hygiene procedure is about a minute; you should not brush your teeth too long or hard.
