All about the manufacturer
Platinum products are high-quality feed. It differs from its analogues in that, in fact, it is not quite simple dry food. This mixture is slightly moister and softer than other croquettes. Thanks to this texture, the granules do not swell in the dog’s stomach. As a result, they cause a false feeling of fullness, which protects the pet from overeating and excessive stress on the digestive tract.
The company positions its products as holistic diets. At the same time, the emphasis is placed on the fact that Platinum brand food is a new super-premium generation and has a number of advantages.
The advantages of this product include the following:
- 70% or more fresh meat;
- use of unique technology for the manufacture of goods;
- the ingredients meet the requirements for human food;
- the food can stimulate muscle formation (it contains a lot of protein);
- high digestibility, which reduces the volume of excreted feces;
- the composition does not contain unnecessary components, which allows it not to overload the liver and kidneys;
- improving the quality of wool due to the content of cold-pressed oils in food;
- hypoallergenic.
It is worth noting that the “Platinum” line is represented by a wide range. This allows dog breeders to select the optimal food for their pets.
About Platinum GmbH
Platinum GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2004 in the municipality of Bodenheim, in the Mainz-Bingen region, by two specialists - a professional breeder, an expert and the manager of one of the most advanced production facilities in the animal nutrition segment. The company's production sites are located in Germany and Spain, and products are imported to 40 different countries around the world.
The company's motto is: Back to Basic Needs - “a return to the basic needs” of the animal, it reflects the manufacturer’s philosophy: dogs need food that is similar to the prey of their wild ancestors. Therefore, according to the manufacturer’s statement, Platinum dog food is made only from high-quality raw materials, such as fresh meat and easily digestible carbohydrate products that are suitable for human consumption.
Also on the official website there is information that the manufacturer of dog food “Platinum” was the first in the world to receive a certificate from TÜV Rheinland, an international independent concern that provides audit services. The presence of such a certificate confirms that this food actually contains at least 50% fresh meat, the information on the packaging about the composition of the food has been verified by laboratory tests and corresponds to the contents, and that this product has been tested for the absence of harmful substances in the composition, such as heavy metals, etc.
Range
Today, the Platinum product range is represented by several varieties, which differ in recipe formula and focus. Let's look at all the varieties of this type of food in more detail.
Puppy Chicken
As the name suggests, this type of food is intended for young dogs and puppies. Therefore, it contains all the components that a growing body needs to form a strong skeleton, beautiful coat and excellent health.
This product contains 73% fresh meat. The main meat component here is chicken.
Adult Lamb+Rice
This type of food is designed for an adult dog. The main meat ingredient is lamb. As a percentage, this component is 70%. Adult Lamb+Rice also contains lamb flour, rice and additional ingredients. The latter includes dried fish, various types of cold-pressed vegetable oils, seafood (for example, mussels), fruits and vegetables.
Thanks to this composition, an adult dog receives an optimal set of vitamins and microelements for high activity and excellent health.
Adult Iberico+Greens
This type of food is also intended for an adult representative of any breed. The composition of this product does not contain grain components. The main ingredient here is Spanish wild boar meat, which makes up 70% of the total.
Dried potatoes, dried brewer's yeast, dried fish, as well as salmon oil, green mussel extract, etc. are used as additional additives for the preparation of Adult Iberico+Greens.
Thanks to special production technology, all food components retain their maximum composition of beneficial microelements, which allows adult dogs to maintain their health and mobility.
Adult Chicken
This product is designed for adult dogs that do not have special features of the digestive tract or immune system. As you might guess from the name, the main ingredient here will be chicken meat. The meat component in this case makes up 70% of the total mass.
The additional ingredients used here are natural corn (not genetically modified), broken rice, dried fish, chicken flour, herbs (dandelion extract, chamomile, etc.) and other components.
Composition and calorie content
The “Platinum” line is represented by various foods, most of which are intended for feeding an adult dog. The main feature of any variety of this line is that it contains 70% or more fresh meat. Moreover, the production technology makes it possible to preserve meat juice in the granules, which gives the food moisture and a pleasant taste. Thanks to special technology, no water is added to the products at the manufacturing stage.
The composition of the food depends on whether it is intended for an adult or a young animal. However, despite this, the approximate composition of the feed is as follows:
- 7.9% – ash elements;
- 16% – fats;
- 26% – protein;
- 2% – fiber;
- 1% – phosphorus;
- 1.5% – calcium.
The main component here is meat (chicken, lamb, wild boar). Various natural and natural substances are used as additional ingredients: green sponge clam or green mussel extract, sarsaparilla root, dried artichoke, calcium chloride and much more.
Thanks to this composition, animals receive all the substances necessary for good health. At the same time, the calorie content of such food is about 350–450 kcal, which allows the dog to get enough of a small amount of granules.
Compound
The main criteria when evaluating feed are always the composition and quality of the ingredients that it contains. A special feature of the composition of Platinum food is the presence of at least 70% fresh meat in each diet, as well as the use of special production technology. It allows you to preserve meat juice in the food granules, as it is prepared without adding water at a relatively low temperature. This makes the kibble juicy and more tasty for your pet.
Let's look at the composition and analyze it using the example of Platinum Adult Chicken food - one of the most popular in the Platinum diet line for adult animals.
Indicators of essential nutrients:
- Protein – 26%;
- Fat – 16%;
- Ash content – 7.9%;
- Fiber – 2%;
- Humidity – 18%;
- Calcium – 1.5%;
- Phosphorus – 1%.
All numbers, except humidity, are within normal limits and are optimal for the daily diet of most pets. The bulk of dry industrial diets have moisture content in the range of 9-12%, but here it is as much as 18%. This indicator is due to the unique technology that the company uses in the production of animal food.
Let's look at the first five ingredients in the composition:
- Fresh chicken meat – 70%;
- Ground rice;
- Corn;
- Poultry meal (originally “poultry meal”, the Russian distributor’s version is “poultry” - obviously there is an error in translation);
- Hydrolyzed poultry.
The entire list of components consists of 22 items, of which as many as 9 positions are occupied by herbs, their seeds or plant extracts. The main components are the first 5-6 products from the entire list, because they are the basis of the recipe.
Further ingredients include brewer's yeast, apple pulp, alfalfa, and salmon oil. Behind them is Yucca extract, and cold-pressed vegetable oils (linseed and olive). Then there is green mussel extract, plus herbal tea and potassium chloride.
The manufacturer accurately indicates only the amount of the first ingredient; the percentage of the remaining components remains unknown.
Squirrels
There are three products containing protein of animal origin - components No. 1, 4 and 5. Despite the fact that 70% chicken meat seems to be a very impressive figure, in reality there will be much less of it in the finished product (about 22%). This happens because raw meat contains a lot of water, which is lost during the cooking process.
However, fresh chicken is an excellent source of protein that is easily digestible, rich in beneficial amino acids, and only cooked once.
Poultry meal is superior to fresh meat in terms of protein, but when an ingredient is vaguely formulated, its credibility is greatly diminished. Most often, such flour is obtained from poultry tissues that are not suitable for human consumption, that is, from cheap and low-quality raw materials.
The fifth item in the composition is reserved for hydrolyzed poultry. This is a powder obtained by strong multi-stage processing of raw materials and has a very strong aroma (used as a natural flavor). However, if it is among the main ingredients, then a lot of it has been added to the recipe. The general wording - “bird” - can hide any raw material, and most often it is found in low-price foods.
Fats
The diet contains both animal and vegetable oils. Salmon fat is very valuable for the body, it promotes healthy skin and coat, and serves as a prevention of heart disease. It is rich in Omega-3, DHA and EPA. Cold-pressed flaxseed and olive oils are one of the best types of vegetable fats; thanks to their production technology, they retain the maximum amount of nutrients.
Carbohydrates
There are two sources of carbohydrates in this menu - broken rice and corn. Broken rice is less healthy compared to whole grain rice, and is also considered a cheaper raw material. Its nutritional value is not very high and it also has a high glycemic index. Corn is not a useful grain at all for dogs; it is most often used as a cheap filler in food. The presence of two grains at once in the top five ingredients is an indicator of low-quality feed.
Other components
The contribution of the remaining ingredients is very insignificant, since all other additives are contained in very small quantities and have virtually no effect on the product. There is a fairly standard set of herbs: chamomile, dandelion, milk thistle (seeds), dried fennel. But among them there are additives that are rarely found in diets from other manufacturers; let’s look at them in more detail:
- Green-lipped mollusk extract is a natural chondroprotector that is much better absorbed than synthetic. A storehouse of glycosaminoglycans that promote the health of the musculoskeletal system, supports the functioning of ligaments and joints.
- Sarsaparilla root is rich in rare substances - phytosteroids and saponins. It has anti-inflammatory, diuretic properties and the ability to remove toxins from the body.
- Dried artichoke is a favorite delicacy of Italians. Contains a large amount of fiber, the prebiotic inulin, which has a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract and promotes the formation of feces.
- Nasturtium is a plant often used in both folk medicine and pharmaceuticals. Improves intestinal motility, rich in vitamins C and A, as well as lutein. It has uroseptic, diuretic and antiseptic properties.
- Potassium chloride is a safe additive used to create product uniformity. It is also added to food as a natural vitamin K1, which is necessary for blood clotting and metabolic processes associated with the formation of calcium.
Price
The cost of these products depends on the volume: 1.5 kg can be purchased for 1,200–1,300 rubles, 5 kg – 2,800–3,100 rubles, 15 kg – 7,300–8,100 rubles. The price also depends on whether it is intended for a puppy or an adult dog.
As you can see, all of the Platinum brand foods listed above have a balanced composition that will allow your pet to always remain healthy and active.
