Composition of food Rogue
Let's look at the composition of the Rogue food using the example of the option “for kittens from 2 months, with chicken.” You can familiarize yourself with it in the image below, we recommend clicking on it to enlarge it for easier reading:
On the left is a photo of the composition from the packaging, on the right is data from the official website.
In the first place are cereals and plant products, which are a source of carbohydrates. It is not specified which grains are used and what these “plant products” are.
The second ingredient, meat and animal products, is a source of protein. Again, it is not specified how much meat there is, and how much “animal products” and what exactly these products are.
Behind the general wording of ingredients (like “products of plant origin”, “products of animal origin”) there are always hidden products of processing raw materials for the food industry. Simply put, the waste that remains after the production of various products.
Animal fats and vegetable oils are sources of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids. Natural flavoring additives - it’s good that they’re natural, but the bad thing is that it’s not specified which ones. Yeast is a source of B vitamins.
Vitamin and mineral supplement is a dietary supplement of vitamins and minerals. Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats. Antioxidants E320 and E321 are synthetic, the second is not safe (there is no evidence of danger either).
The preservative Myco Carb is considered harmless and consists mainly of acids (propionic, fumaric and sorbic) and ordinary salt.

The benefits of the food include:

Cat food Rogue - reviews
Despite the fact that Protail food has been on the pet market for a long time, only a few people bought it for their pets. Or it’s simply that most of those who bought it did not write anywhere about the results of feeding, since there are quite a few reviews about this food.
Reviews from veterinarians
There are no direct reviews on the Internet (or we were unable to find them in reliable sources) about Protail food from veterinarians. If we find any of these in the future, we will definitely add them to this review.

Hi all! My cat's name is Marsik, he is now three months old. Recently in Auchan I bought him PROTAIL dry food for kittens. A small 350 g package costs only 40 rubles. The smell of the food is normal, like other cat foods.
The cat ate this food very appetizingly, until I took the photo he almost bit off his hand along with the food croquettes)) I used to take Whiskas for him, he ate poorly and constantly left it in the bowl. This food seems to taste better, I can recommend it for your cats too!

Our code is normal, mongrel, neutered. Lives in an apartment, never goes outside. Mostly he eats home-cooked food, but we regularly buy Sheba canned food and sometimes Kitekat. Last time, instead of them, I took a couple of Rogue bags, with images of a cute red cat. The price for 1 bag is about 15 rubles, even cheaper than the same Kitekat which costs 18 rubles for 85 g.
Manufacturer LLC Aller-Petfood, production is located in the Leningrad region. The composition is beautifully described: minced chicken, chicken by-products at least 4% (including turkey, meat, meat by-products, fish, fish by-products, plant components, minerals, vitamins, taurine). I examined it already at home, I didn’t think that it would be different from the others.
In the bag there are gray-brown pieces in jelly, they look so-so, they smell like fish and soy. But the cat liked them, ate them and licked them. And after two hours the problems started, the cat was vomiting this food every 10-15 minutes for an hour! I already wanted to take him to the vet, this has never happened to him! Fortunately, he fell asleep and woke up normal, everything worked out.
I assume that the Rogue wet food is stuffed with various waste, and this is the result. I don’t recommend going with this brand; it’s better to buy Sheba canned goods, they are absolutely normal.

My cat is over ten years old and has been eating natural food all his life, including fish, liver and various meat by-products. He eats ready-made food only when I don’t have time to cook or I go somewhere and leave it with my brother. I take the most inexpensive food, and I also came across the Scoundrel.
Of course, its composition is not very good, only products of unknown origin. But it’s not possible to buy expensive food, and for emergencies this one is also suitable. Moreover, the cat eats it well, does not remain hungry, and has no negative consequences.
Composition assessment and analysis
Let's conduct a detailed review of the composition of the Rogue dog food based on the version of the diet intended for adult animals of all breeds. The manufacturer claims that this menu is balanced and complete. That is, when a dog eats the daily amount of food, it receives everything it needs (proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals) in sufficient quantities to remain healthy and satisfy all the body’s needs.
Is this really so - a nutritional analysis will show:
- Protein – 22%
- Fat – 10%
- Ash – 8%
- Fiber – 4%
- Humidity – 10%
- Calcium – 1.4%
- Phosphorus – 1.1%
The fat and protein levels in this recipe are below generally accepted average standards, which may be suitable for a pet who lives in an apartment and is not particularly active most of the time. However, on the other hand, this is not enough for a pet who prefers long walks with active games.
It should also be noted that the manufacturer did not mention in the analysis - this is the carbohydrate indicator, which here is at the level of 46%, which, without exaggeration, is much more than a dog needs.
In order to objectively assess the quality of the diet, you need to study the composition of this product in detail. It looks like this:
- Cereals and plant products
- Meat and animal products
- Animal fats and vegetable oils
- Natural flavoring additives
- Fish and fish by-products
The list is completed by minerals and vitamins. Plus, the manufacturer reports that to preserve the feed, it uses antioxidants E320 and E321, as well as the preservative myco carb.
The manufacturer does not provide information about the percentage of components in the recipe, although this is a very common practice among many brands, but this approach does not inspire much confidence.
Ingredients in Rogue dog food
Squirrels
Component No. 2 – “meat and animal products”, is the source of animal proteins in the recipe. An ingredient with such a vague name is very typical for economy class food and is a very dubious product. Of course, chicken fillet, beef or other types of meat and their derivatives can also have such a general name, but the same definition also includes waste that is not suitable for food: heads, skins, hooves, horns, etc. And the manufacturer is primarily interested in his own benefit, so low-quality raw materials are often hidden under vague ingredients.
Ingredient No. 5 - “fish and fish by-products”, in fact, is also a dubious component. We do not know what species of fish we are talking about, what quality of raw materials and what parts of the fish were used. Such undesirable ingredients should be avoided in dog food.
Fats
The third place in the list of ingredients is given to “animal fats and vegetable oils.” This is some kind of mixture of some fats with unknown oils. It is not known in what proportions they are mixed, nor the raw materials from which they were obtained. Animal fats are produced by rendering from animal tissues, which are considered unsuitable for humans. Such a component cannot be considered high-quality or trustworthy, much less talk about any benefit from it for the dog.
Cereals
The very first place in the recipe is given to “cereals and products of plant origin.” The fact that it is listed at No. 1 means that there is more of this component in the feed. Again we have before us a certain “Mr. X”, behind whom, most likely, is hidden waste of plant raw materials, the lowest quality grain mixtures of substandard condition. The use of such unknown ingredients allows the manufacturer to save significantly and makes it possible to put into the feed the cheapest raw materials available on the market. Such components are not credible and should be avoided if possible.
Other feed components
The manufacturer indicated mysterious natural flavoring and aromatic additives in the composition. It has no nutritional value for the pet, it is just designed to create the impression of tasty food for the dog, because they evaluate food primarily by smell. The manufacturer does not say what specific additives were used.
The antioxidants that are used in this recipe to preserve feed from spoilage are E320 and E321. They are also known as the chemical preservatives BHA and BHT. In many countries, they are completely banned, as they are believed to cause cancer.
The Miko Carb additive is also used as a preservative, but it is considered completely safe and prevents the proliferation of various fungi and the accumulation of toxins in dry food.

Conclusions about Protail food
There are both positive and negative reviews about Rogue cat food. There are more of the latter. Considering this and the poor composition, the PetObzor website does not recommend using it as the main diet for your cats.
If you are looking for inexpensive but more or less good food, then pay attention to Probalance or Blitz dry food. Although they were made in Russia, their composition is much better than economy class.
Verdict: Highly not recommended (?)
- Economy class food for cats
- Russian cat food
