The drug contains praziquantel (50 mg), pyrantel embonate (144 mg), febantel (150 mg). Lactose monohydrite, microcellulose, corn starch, polyvidone, magnesium stearate, meat-flavored food additive and other substances are included as auxiliary components.
The tablets are bone-shaped and dark beige to brown in color. The pills are packaged in plastic blisters, placed in cardboard boxes and supplied with instructions. In veterinary pharmacies, tablets are sold both in whole packages and individually.

The medicine does not affect the functioning of the liver and kidneys, the remnants of active and additional substances are completely eliminated from the body within 48 hours along with feces and urine. Suspension for puppies

- nematodes (toxocariasis, trichuriasis, uncinariasis, toxascariasis);
- cestodiasis (tenidosis, dipylidiasis, echnococcosis, mesocestoidosis);
- giardiasis.
The medicine is suitable for dogs of all sizes and breeds.
Used to treat:
- weakened and elderly animals;
- bitches in the last trimester of pregnancy and during lactation;
- puppies aged 3 weeks and older.
Important. Before treatment, it is advisable to undergo an analysis to accurately determine the nature of the invasion. When removing different types of parasites, different dosage regimens may be suggested.
Instructions for use
The instructions included with each package will help you understand how to give Drontal Plus to your dog. 1 tablet is designed for 10 kg of animal weight; for small breeds and puppies the tablet must be cut into pieces. When treating giardiasis, it is necessary to give tablets for 3 days in a row, without exceeding the calculated dose. If several animals live in the house, treatment is carried out simultaneously. This applies not only to dogs, but also to cats, ferrets and other pets. It is recommended to disinfect the apartment or enclosure to avoid re-infection.
Use of the drug
The instructions for Drontal Plus for dogs are simple. The drug is given to animals as a preventive measure (can be prescribed as a therapeutic measure) against mixed helminthiasis. Wide range of effects that the drug has.

Drontal is intended for oral administration. It is better to give the medicine to dogs at the time of morning feeding. If the animal is already accustomed to tolerate pill therapy and can eat it on its own, then feel free to give it to the dog without using “tricks.”
Dogs rarely take any medication calmly and refuse to swallow the pill on their own. Drontal does not enter into chemical reactions with foreign molecules and compounds, so it can be added to food, wrapped in a meat product and fed to an animal.
It retains its properties when crushed, so it can be crumbled or grated, and the resulting powder can simply be sprinkled on the animal’s food.
There is no need to keep the dog on a starvation diet after or before introducing the drug into the body. There is absolutely no need to combine Drontal with laxatives.
The drug is contraindicated for:
- Dogs that have suffered illness or are weakened for other reasons.
- Sick animals.
- Dogs in a state of pregnancy, in the first 2/3 of the period.
It is recommended to consult a veterinarian before use. If the dog has no direct contraindications, no side effects or complications will be observed. This is due to the fact that the enzymes that make up Drontal are not toxic to warm-blooded creatures, but only have a bad effect on intestinal parasites.
Calculate the dose of tablets
"Drontal" has the same effect for all breeds of dogs and has no age restrictions. One tablet weighs 0.66 g and is designed for 10 kg of animal weight.
The dose is adjusted:
- If the dog weighs up to 2 kg: the animal is given a quarter of the tablet.
- If the animal weighs from 2 to 5 kg - half a tablet.
- Weight from 5 to 10 kg - 1 whole tablet.
- For medium-sized dogs whose weight ranges from 10 to 20 kg, 2 tablets should be given.
- If the weight is from 20 to 30 kg - 3 tablets.
- For large dogs whose weight is from 30 to 40 kg - 4 tablets at a time.
It is advisable to carry out deworming regularly every quarter, i.e. 4 times a year. The tablets are taken before the planned mating of animals and vaccination. If the drug is often used in therapeutic measures, the dose and frequency are stated by the veterinarian.
Frequency of use
The tablet should be given once, preferably during the morning feeding or immediately after it. Special preparatory procedures in the form of cleansing enemas or fasting are not required. No dietary restrictions are needed; after taking the medicine, the dog can lead a normal life.
Contraindications and side effects
Despite its good effectiveness, the drug has contraindications.
Drontal Plus is not recommended:
- females in the first months of pregnancy;
- puppies under 2-3 months of age (depending on the breed);
- dogs with severe underweight;
- animals after surgery, chemotherapy or severe infectious diseases.
When taking Drontal Plus, side effects are possible: nausea, vomiting, temporary refusal to eat. Typically, such symptoms are observed due to intolerance to one or another component of the drug. Unpleasant symptoms do not require treatment; if treatment is stopped, they disappear within 1-2 days.
Indications for dogs

In this case, the dosage is slightly different. "Drontal Plus" assumes the following dosage regimen:
- if the dog’s weight ranges from 10 to 17.5 kg, the tablet must be divided in half;
- if the weight is between 17.5-35 kg, then one pill will be required;
- when the animal weighs from 35 to 52.5 kg, then it is necessary to offer 1.5 tablets;
- Especially large pets will need 2 capsules.

The tablets can be used for 5 years from the release date indicated on the packaging. They should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heating devices and direct sunlight. Do not place the drug near food, in places accessible to children and pets.
