Description of the drug
The medication belongs to the group of antibiotics.
Its main active ingredient is amoxicillin.
It is a semi-synthetic penicillin that has proven itself in the fight against purulent diseases and streptococcal infections. The auxiliary component of the product is sodium clavulanate. It has a pronounced bacterial effect. Available in the form of tablets and suspensions.
Pills
Medicine for oral use.
These are large tablets with a pinkish tint and a sweetish taste. They contain 40 mg amoxicillin and 10 mg sodium clavunalate.
Tablets are packaged in blisters of 10 pcs. There are 5 such blisters in one cardboard box.
Injection
The suspension consists of an antibiotic, water and excipients.
The drug is intended for injection. Injections can be given subcutaneously and intramuscularly. The solution is sold in glass bottles of 40 and 10 ml. There are 12 of them in one box.
Veterinarians most often administer injections to animals . Unlike the tablet form, they do not have a negative effect on the gastrointestinal tract.
Analogs
There are not many perfect analogues of Sinulox. The first on the list is the antibacterial drug Amoxiclav. It acts due to amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, that is, it is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Such a composition increases the list of contraindications, for example, the medicine is not given to particularly weak individuals, puppies. The effect of this product is due to the fact that its particles destroy the cell walls of bacteria that infect the body. However, this happens rather slowly, so the remedy is used only in the complex treatment of serious diseases, for example, cystitis.
The second is Flemoklav. This antibacterial medication for dogs should be stored in the refrigerator. Its rules of application are more specific than those of Sinulox. The product also contains clavulanic acid and amoxicillin, and is available in tablets and powder for creating a solution. It helps with all types of infectious and inflammatory diseases. Consequently, the range of reasons for use is quite large. But Flemoclav, unlike Sinulox, is difficult to find in real stores. That is why the product has no more successful analogues.
Indications for use
The drug is prescribed in case of bacterial damage to the genitourinary system, respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract. It is also used at the onset of pathological processes in soft tissues, which are provoked by a secondary infection.
Indications for use:
- metritis;
- enteritis;
- cystitis;
- bronchopneumonia;
- pneumonia;
- stomatitis;
- tonsillitis;
- MMA syndrome;
- atrophic type rhinitis.
The medication promotes the healing of postoperative infected wounds and burns. It is prescribed for abscesses.
Features of using the product
It is important that before starting to use the product, you study the instructions for use of the drug in detail. Despite its versatility, the medication can only be used as prescribed by a doctor.
The form of the medicine and its dosage are determined taking into account several nuances:
- body mass;
- age;
- presence or absence of concomitant diseases;
- severity of pathology;
- state of immunity.
If used incorrectly, the dog's condition can worsen dramatically.
The antibiotic has maximum effect only with a continuous course of treatment.
It is strictly forbidden to skip a dose of the drug, stop therapy earlier than prescribed, or use its analogues without prior consultation with a veterinarian.
Such actions lead to increased resistance of bacteria to active components and reduce immunity. The risk of side effects increases.
How to give tablets
You need to give your dog tablets 2 times a day.
You can take them on an empty stomach and with food. In the first case, the drug can provoke gastrointestinal upset, and in the second - a gag reflex. The dog owner decides how exactly to use the tablets. It is allowed to mix the medicine into food. In this case, you need to make sure that the animal eats everything.
The tablet can be given to a dog by gently placing it in the mouth and holding the muzzle for a few seconds to allow the pet to swallow the medicine.
You cannot select the dosage yourself. This is done by the veterinarian on an individual basis. The amount is determined at the rate of 12.5 mg of medication per 1 kg of animal weight. If the dog's condition is too severe, the dose is doubled.
The duration of the course depends on many factors and varies from a week to a month.
If injections are prescribed
When using the drug in the form of a suspension, the duration of therapy is from three to five days.
A longer course is prescribed for severe disease. In this case, injections are given once a day.
The dosage of the medication is selected by the doctor individually. For every kilogram of weight, 8.75 mg is required.
Before the procedure, the suspension in the bottle is shaken. Use a dry needle and syringe, otherwise the clavulanic acid included in the composition will lose its properties.
Instructions for use
According to the instructions, the antibiotic in dry form is prescribed at 12 mg/kg of the dog’s live weight, injections – 9 mg/kg. The effect of a single injection of the drug is designed for 12 hours, after this time Sinulox is re-administered.
Taking pills
Tablets without flavoring additives, with a pronounced bitter taste. The dog will voluntarily refuse to eat the drug. You can crush the tablet into powder, mix it with minced meat and offer it to your pet. A more complex, but immediate method is to open the mouth, place the tablet on the root of the tongue and slightly push the medicine inside, while simultaneously closing the dog’s jaw. Raise your head, stroking your neck from top to bottom to stimulate the swallowing movement.
It is better not to follow recommendations to crush the medicine into powder and mix with water. Liquid may enter the respiratory tract. The dog may choke by reflexively coughing up the water containing the medicine.
Use of suspension
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. Draw the suspension into a syringe and inject it subcutaneously or intramuscularly before the fractions settle again. It is not recommended to fill the syringe in advance; there is a danger of injecting liquid without the main substance.
Bottles are available in 40 and 100 ml, they are enough for several uses. The suspension is stored tightly closed with a ground-in rubber stopper in a dark place at room temperature. On average, injections are prescribed for 5-7 days, but in severe cases the course can last up to 2 weeks.
The frequency of injection use is once every 12 hours, for severe bacterial infections, once every 8 hours.
After the end of the course of injections, the bottle with the remaining antibiotic is thrown away. Do not store open medicine.
The injection site of the antibiotic is thoroughly warmed up (kneaded) to avoid the formation of a lump.
Never mix several medications in one syringe, as this may cause unpredictable reactions.
Application of ampoules
Sinulox 3 g has the form of a syringe; according to the method of application, the drug is identical to the suspension. There is no need to shake it, the dosage is 12.5 mg/kg body weight (1 ml/20 kg body weight). An open ampoule is stored for up to 4 days; after completion of the course of treatment, the opened drug is disposed of.

Is it possible to find analogues?
Expert opinion
Panteleeva Irina Petrovna
Breeder, 11 years experience.
Speaking about how to replace Sinulox, it is worth noting that it is not recommended to use antibiotics intended for humans. Only a veterinarian can select analogues.
Among the drugs that have a similar effect are the following:
- Honeyclave;
- Amoxiclav;
- Flemoclav.
Amoxicillin can be used in its pure form without additional components. It has a bitter taste, so during therapy there may be problems with how to give it to the animal.
What is the price
The cost directly depends on the form of release, packaging volume and concentration of the active substance.
The price range is as follows:
10 tablets of 50 mg – from 180 to 250 rubles;- 10 tablets (250 mg) – from 300 to 450 rubles;
- 10 tablets containing 500 mg of active ingredient - from 400 to 600 rubles;
- suspension in a 40 ml bottle – from 920 to 1600 rubles;
- 100 ml of solution for injection - from 1800 to 2500 rubles.
It is worth considering that after opening a bottle of suspension, its contents are stored for only a month. It is necessary to calculate in advance how much of the drug will be consumed during this period.
Perhaps there is no need to purchase a large bottle at all and you can get by with small ones.
You should not choose tablets containing a large amount of active substance. As a rule, they are used in the treatment of cattle. Synulox 50 is suitable for dogs.
