Pharmacological properties
Prazitel plus tablets are a combination anthelmintic drug. The combination of praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate included in the drug provides a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action on all phases of development of round and tape helminths parasitizing dogs and puppies, incl. Toxocara canis, Toxocara mystax, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma spp., Echinococcus granulosus, Alveococcus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum. The mechanism of action of the active ingredients included in the drug is based on inhibition of fumarate reductase, persistent depolarization of helminth muscle cells, disruption of energy metabolism, which causes paralysis and death of the parasite and promotes its removal from the gastrointestinal tract. When administered orally, praziquantel is quickly absorbed in the intestine and distributed in organs and tissues, and is excreted from the body mainly in the urine in a metabolized form; Pyrantel pamoate is partially absorbed in the intestine and is excreted primarily through urine within 24–48 hours.
In terms of the degree of impact on the body, it is classified as a moderately hazardous substance (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76); in recommended doses it does not have immunotoxic, sensitizing, embryotoxic or teratogenic effects.

Prazitel tablets for dogs
Just like the suspension, this variation of the drug is available in two forms:
- "Prasitel Plus" This medicine can be used for four-legged animals of different body weights and different ages (not earlier than two weeks of age). One tablet of the drug contains the same concentration of active components as the suspension for adults - the maximum amount. As for the excipients, these are starch, milk sugar, gelatin.
- "Prasitel" for puppies and cats. This type of tablet has a more gentle composition, so it is most often recommended for use for children. There is no fenbendazole, and the remaining active ingredients are the same as in the puppy suspension. The auxiliary components are the same as in the previous type of tablets.
One box of tablets contains from 2 to 10 pieces. This packaging allows you not to overpay for excess items, which will then simply go in the trash. In addition to the tablets, the box contains detailed instructions.

Indications for use
A drug is prescribed for the treatment of:
- nematodes that occur due to roundworms;
- opisthorchiasis;
- cestodoses that appear as a result of infection with tapeworms and their vital activity;
- mixed invasions.
The drug is used not only for treatment, but also as a prevention of infection. To protect your pet, you need to give him an anthelmintic quarterly, as well as additionally before mating and before vaccination.
Description of the mechanism of action
The components of the drug affect the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes. As a result, the process of transmission of nerve impulses is disrupted in helminths. Some of the worms die, the rest are paralyzed. Unable to gain a foothold, they leave the body during bowel movements.
Prasicite is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic. It effectively destroys the following parasites:
- nematodes;
- cestodes;
- insects;
- ticks.
By following the dosage specified in the instructions for use, you can be confident that the drug is safe for the skin and mucous membrane of your pet’s gastrointestinal tract.
Dosage for treatment and prevention
Prazicide in tablet form is used for dogs of any size. 1 tablet is designed for 10 kg of live weight. Therefore, for large breeds, calculating the dosage is very simple. The pills are crushed into powder and mixed with the morning meal. For small dogs, they are broken along the cutting line, and the rest is wrapped in paper, signed and the expiration date indicated.
Prazicide in the form of a suspension is available in three versions. The packages show different pictures and certain numbers are written in large letters:
- 20 – for small breed puppies (1kg – 1ml);
- 40 – babies of medium and large pets (2 kg - 1 ml);
- 60 – adult pets (3 kg – 1 ml).
Prazicide in the form of drops is also made in several varieties: for dogs weighing less than 5 kg, 5-10 kg, 10-20 kg, 20-30 kg. Using the drug is not difficult. With his left hand, the owner spreads the dog’s fur at the withers, and with his right hand he squeezes the entire contents of the pipette onto the skin. It is not necessary to rub in the medicine.
If the owner finds fleas on the fur or helminths in the feces, the drug is given twice with a break of 10 days. During this period, adult parasites develop from eggs (which are more difficult to destroy). A preventive appointment is carried out once every four months, and also before vaccination injections. In this case, a repeat procedure is not necessary.
